After our orgasmic morning together, I had gone to bed and found a row of pillows lining the middle of the bed, and that was the way it had been each night after. The fondling demarcation zone would still be up tonight.

I’d woken up in heaven only to be kicked back into purgatory. I had pushed too fast. A lonely man, one with a raging erection and the woman he loved in his arms, hadn’t been thinking straight. I hadn’t put her needs before mine. She’d been willing, and goddamn, I’d hopped on that train and hadn’t cared where I got dumped.

Only I had been booted.

At least we still slept in the same bed. I might have woken up with my face buried in a taupe-colored pillow instead of her hair, but she hadn’t restricted me to the floor.

There was a chance yet.

I’d take it slow. Daisy was worth it.
